Export Offensive from Textile Manufacturers in Bursa in Paris

Turkish textile industry made a mark at Texworld Paris, one of Europe's leading accessory, ready-to-wear, fabric, and fashion fairs. With the participation of over 400 companies from approximately 20 countries, Turkey became the second strongest participant in the organization after China with nearly 100 companies.

The business world of Bursa continues its export offensive with the Global Fair Agency Project of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO). Textile sector representatives, considering the resumption of physical fairs as a great opportunity for export goals due to the pandemic, examined the Texworld 2022 Autumn Fair held in Paris, the capital of France. A BTSO delegation of 30 people, including BTSO Assembly President Ali Uğur and BTSO Textile Council President Bayram Uçkun, met with global professionals at the fair where the trends for spring/summer 2023 were determined.

At the fair, where the positive reflection of the recovery process in the global textile and ready-to-wear sector was observed with the normalization, the number of participants showed a two-fold increase compared to the fair held in February. While Turkish textiles were represented at Texworld with nearly 100 companies, China was the largest participant, and South Korea, India, and Bangladesh also showed strong participation. At the fair, 23 companies from Bursa introduced their products to foreign buyers. The fair, held at Parc des Expositions Paris Le Bourget, will continue to host visitors from all around the world until July 6.

"We Attach Great Importance to Fair Organization Efforts"

Making evaluations regarding the fair, BTSO Assembly President Ali Uğur stated that the change process in supply chains due to the COVID-19 pandemic has brought Turkey to the fore as a production base. Uğur emphasized that they strive for BTSO members to make the best use of this opportunity and said, "As the chamber, we attach great importance, especially to fair organization efforts. Within this scope, with the Global Fair Agency Project we have implemented, we have been bringing our members together with the world's most prestigious fairs since 2013. Texworld Paris is an extremely important fair for Bursa textile and ready-to-wear companies, which realized exports exceeding $1.5 billion in the first half of the year. We aim for our companies to evaluate the opportunities here. Texworld is an important platform for establishing cooperation with new countries and regions. I wish the fair to be beneficial for our sector, our city, and our country."

"Companies Met Buyers from All Around the World"

Bayram Uçkun, President of the BTSO Textile Council, stated that companies met with important buyers from all around the world for the second time this year at Texworld Paris. Stating that they support the export-oriented growth of the textile and ready-to-wear sector with fair organization efforts, which are of strategic importance in terms of added value and employment, Uçkun said, "Texworld is not only an opportunity for potential cooperation but also an important organization that provides vision to our companies about current developments and the future of the sector. I hope that the negotiations at the fair will turn into new orders and contribute to our exports."

European Customers Showed Great Interest

Bursalı firms participating in the fair expressed their satisfaction with the interest of European customers. Rahmican Yılmaz, the owner of Ramnur Textile company, stated that there was a significant increase in both participants and visitors compared to the last fair, and said, "We are particularly pleased with the presence of European customers. The fair is going very well. We are satisfied with the organization. We thank the Global Fair Agency and everyone involved in it."

New Orders Received at the Fair

Adnan Ahu, Sales Manager of Bünyem Tekstil, noted that there was a great activity, especially on the first day of the fair. Ahu said, "Qualified buyers have come to the fair. We had meetings with many firms, especially from Spain. Spain was a shrinking market recently, but we received new orders from this country at the fair. Our target markets are European countries because they have higher profit margins and order volumes. We hope that this fair will strengthen our business connections in Europe."

CONSUL BELENTEPE CONGRATULATED BURSA FIRMS

At the fair, the BTSO delegation also met with Serdar Belentepe, the Consul General of Turkey in Paris, and Trade Counselor Gonca Köksal Ensari. Consul Belentepe stated that the fair once again revealed Turkey's strength in the textile sector and emphasized the strong participation of Bursalı firms.

Furthermore, companies participating in foreign fair organizations organized by BTSO can receive support from BTSO up to 1,000 TL and from KOSGEB up to 20,000 TL.
